About

Hello, I’m Shelly — the writer behind Daycare Insights and a professionally certified Infant Teacher in Massachusetts. I have spent most of my career teaching children of various ages, including toddler and preschool. However, I find the most fulfillment in nurturing infants due to the unique challenges and rewards of caring for these precious little ones.

Over the past ten years, I have noticed that when infant families start daycare, they are overwhelmed and anxious. This is understandable because it is their first time leaving their child with someone else. Whenever a new family joins my classroom, I express that I believe in transparency in communication and want them to come to me with any concerns or questions along the journey we are about to embark on.

As my relationship with the families grew, they felt more open and secure. This is because they understood my genuine desire for the best for their infant and saw their child's love for me. There is no better feeling than when an infant reaches out to me with open arms during morning drop-off.

When the children eventually moved on to their toddler classrooms, I received a number of letters from infant families thanking me for helping them through this journey and guiding them to being more comfortable with having their child at daycare.

Spurred on by their constant encouragement, I made it my mission to start a blog that equips and educates other new parents on navigating their way through daycare smoothly during this pivotal period of growth and development. I want to help families find the right place that fits their needs so they can be confident on the first day, knowing that they have all the suitable materials and are asking the right questions to see their child succeed.
